Page 3) - I managed to sandblast the lifter retainer. There was a little bit of rust on it from sitting for a little bit, but it came right off! Almost looks brand new ... heck, it does look brand new!
Cam is installed with the cam retainer in place. The trick here is to install the cam sprocket on the cam to act as leverage when installing. Lobe the cam bearing lobes really good will assembly lube and coat the lobes with 30W oil as you're installing the cam.
Above you see the timing chain installed with the indicators lined up. Bottom of the cam sprocket lined up with the top of the crank sprocket. I turned it a couple of full rotations to ensure I didn't skip a tooth (sometimes it's hard to tell, especially with the little slack chains give you).
And here we have the lifters, retainers and retainer plate installed. Click Next
