I can't remember the last time I bought something, and then returned it... I usually just throw it on the shelf and 'use' it later... well not this time, I'm pissed...
I recently voyaged into the iPod world... I need on for the gym... a past member of this here site sold me a mint pod touch, almost new, pre-loaded with 27gb of songs I handpicked... Well I needed something to play it in the truck... So I went out and bought the most expensive FM Transmittior I could find, $60... Well let me tell you what, this is THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT I HAVE HADZ EVER BOUGHTEN!!!
Tomorrow before gym I'm taking this piece of shit back... Maybe to buy a new head unit to wherez I can plug ipod directy into....

yeah my head unit has the jack so you can plug the ipod / mp3 in.
i have an ipod nano i got for free, i use that and i upload songs from my friend mark. mark is a dj and has about 50,000 songs on his itunes i choose from.
i recently borrowed 6 gang starr cd's from my friend mike. i uploaded these to my computer in windows media, not itunes i dont have itunes. so i used my sidekick as a mp3 player and that also works with the same cord right to the head unit.
the cord i have goes from the head phone jack of the unit of your choice to a similar hole on the faceplate. some of my friends have set ups that plug into the back of the deck using an aux wire, dont get that that sucks.

oh and btw i got the sony head unit for my truck for 80$ at walmart, and the cord at walmart for 10$. the head unit is very simple and reliable, i like sonys a lot. it's basically an updated version of the head unit in my camaro (i went with sony in that car too), which also has the same hole for the same cord so i can use it in both vehicles.

I got the FM trans thingy in the GTP. It's OK. Makes a ticking sound all the time. But you can't really hear it while a song is playing. It was free. So I'm not going to complain. Plus it's better then listing to the radio on the way to work were all they do is talk. But I need to buy a new setup where it charges it. Was going to work one morning and noticed the battery was almost dead. It played like 2.3 songs and shut off. Was like no problem. Have a factory 12 disc in the trunk loaded and ready to go. Push play. Didn't like the 1st CD. So I went to next and then a freaking err32 poped up on the radio. Dammit! So I went back to radio and keep pushing preset the whole time to work. They have this one were it plugs into the factory radio where the CD changer would go. It charges the ipod and even let's you use your steering wheel controls. It's about $100. But since I just steeped up to a 8gb nano from a 4gb nano. It might be worth it not have to use the damn click wheel. I skip songs ALOT.

Ive got a $70 Belkin FM transmitter that charges while playing. Works great. Had it 3 years now. I had to get it because my ipod doesnt play out of one speaker through the headphone jack, so I needed something that played via the charge port instead.
All new Pioneer head units come with built in USB ports now, so next time I upgrade, thats what Im grabbing. That way I can use the standard Apple cord to connect and use the radio controls to skip songs and choose playlists.
Once again, no IROC for me. Maybe someday.

The Pioneer head units have the USB built in. That uses the stock Apple cable you use for your PC. That in turn plays the ipod through the deck and charges it at the same time. Or you can get the Belkin at Walmart like I did, which plugs into the cig lighter, plays the ipod and charges it at the same time. I know I said all Pioneers have it but I think maybe the cheapest ones may not. Just make sure it says USB before you buy it. My brother just got one where the usb plug was on a 6' cable out of the back of the deck. We routed it through the dash to the center console. Ive also looked at two that had the USB in the faceplate behind a little door. The DEH3900MP or something to that nature. The 4900 and up have the cable setup.
