Hi i just bought a 89 iroc z it is a police edition with a 5.7l tpi, 700r4,with 2.73 rear end. Im looking for parts and setups to reach my goal of 400-450hpMy friend Rob @ Bullet Engines in kingston,Ontario is going to do the machining if needed for me. So any info would be greatly apprecaited. I will keep yous posted as the restoration progresses

change the cam, heads and intake....Me, I would go with afr195'S, hsr intake and one of Comps XFI cams....also a good set of headers.
you will need a good stall, and your going to break the rear end with that HP so have deep pockets, plus your not hooking with that much power on stock suspension

TPI can not support anywhere close to 400hp, hell your pushing to get 300, that said #22 or 24# injectors should get you in that range

a police car never came with 2.73 gears that im aware of. do you have your rpo codes? that will tell you more about the car.
that being said, aron is right, your looking at intake, heads, and cam swap and tuning to achieve those power goals.
in an automatic car, the rear end wont be as bad as there is less drivetrain shock. if you plan to shift your own gears, then i would be looking at rear axles. i know of plenty of sub 1.6 short time cars on 10 bolt axles but they are automatics.... i wouldnt trust that rear end to a manual tranny car.
